1.       Simple Present Tense (do/does)

S + V 1 (s/es) + Time Signal

S + Tobe (is, am, are) + Object/Complement + T/S

Berakhiran “Y” didahului huruf mati. “Y”à “I”à V1 + es Eg. Cry-Cries

Time Signal: every….+ always + usually + generally + frequently, often, sometimes, occasionally, seldom, never, rarely, once a week, twice a dat, etc

# Untuk menyatakan kegiatan/peristiwa yang diulang-ulang

u/ menyatakan bahwa sesuatu yang benar pada waktu lampau jadi benar pada waktu sekarang, dan akan tetap benar pada waktu yang akan datang/ kebenaran umum (general truth)

u/ menyatakan kejadian yang diwujudkan pada waktu yang akan datang.

2.       Past Tense (Did)

S + V2 + O/C + T/S (kalimat Verbal)

S + Tobe (was, ware) + O/C + T/S (kalimat Nominal)

Time Signal: yesterday, last week, last month, last year, three days ago, half an hour ago, in 1999

3.       Present Continues Tense ( is, am, are)

S + Tobe (is, am, are) + V.ing + O/C + T/S

Note V1+ing

V1 satu suku kata diakhiri huruf matià digandakan. Eg. Put-Putting

V1 dua suku kata diakhiri huruf “L”, diawali huruf hidup. Eg. Travel-Traveling

V1 diakhiri huruf “E”,diawali huruf mati, huruf “E” dihilangkan. Eg. Rise-Rising/smile-smiling

V1 diakhiri huruf “E”, diawali dua huruf “E”. Eg. See-Seeing/Free-freeing

V1 diakhiri huruf “E” diawali huruf “I” maka”IE” diganti jadi “Y” + V.ing. Eg. Die-Dying/Lie-Lying

Time Signal:  now, at present, still, at this moment, right now, Tomorrow, next…

# u/ menyatakan kegiatan yang sedang berlangsung pada saat ini

u/  menyatakan aktivitas /sesuatu hal yang secara pasti dan jelas

u/ menyatakan yang sedang berkembang pada waktu yang tidak terbatas.

4.       Pass Continues Tense ( was/ware)

S + To be (was/ware) + V.ing +O/C

5.       Present Perfect Tense (Have/Has)

S + Have/Has + V3 + O/C  (kalimat Verbal/Berpredikat Verbal)

S + Have/Has +Been + O/C (kaliamt nominal/berpredikat To Be)

Time Signal: for, still, up, to now, ever, already, just, since, yet, recently, so far, lately.

6.       Present Perfect Continous Tense

S + Have/Has + V3 + O/C

S + Have/Has + Been + V.ing + O/C

Time Signal: for, up to now, since, so far.

7.       Past perfect Tense

S + Had + V3 + O/C

S + Had + Been + O/C

Time Signal: after, before, where, until, by  that time, by the time, by then.

8.       Past perfect  Continuous Tense

S + Had + Been + V.ing + O/C

Time Signal: after, before, where, until, by  that time, by the time, by then.

Had not : hadn’t

I had : I’d

9.       Simple Future Tense

S + Shall/Will + V1 + O/C

S + Shall/Will + Be + O/C

Time Signal: next, tomorrow, today, tonight, this month, this afternoon, this evening, etc

Shall not : shan’t

Will not : won’t

10.   Future Continous Tense

S + Shall/Will + Be + V.ing + O/C

Time Signal: a week from today, at this time tomorrow, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, at this time next week (month, year), tonight, this morning (afternoon, evening), etc

# untuk menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang akan sedang berlangsung dalam waktu tertentu pada masa yang akan datang.

11.   Future Perfect Tense

S + Shall/Will + Have + V.3 + O/C

S + Shall/Will + Have + Been  + O/C

Time Signal: by the end of the year (week, month), by Friday, by then, etc

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang direncanakan akan selesai sebelum masa tertentu pada waktu yang akan datang.

12.   Future Perfect Continous Tense

S + Shall/Will + Have + Been  + V.ing +  O/C

Time Signal: by the end of the year (week, month, time), by that time, by Friday, by then, etc

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang telah berlangsung beberapa lama pada masa yang akan datang masih sedang berlangsung ketika aktivitas/peristiwa lain terjadi.

13.   Simple Past Future Tense

S + Wolud/Should + V.1 + O/C

S + Wolud/Should + Be + O/C

Time Signal: yesterday, last Monday, last week (month, year, evening, night) etc

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang akan dilakukan pada masa lampau tapitidak terjadi.

u/ menyatakan suatu tawaran lebih sopan (seharusnya, sudihkah, rencananya)

14.   Past Future Continous Tense

S + Wolud/Should + Be + V.ing  + O/C

Time Signal: on Thursday last week, at five o’clock yesterday, by this time last Saturday, etc.

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang akan sedang berlangsung pada waktu tertentu pada masa lampau.

15.   Past Future Perfect Tense

S + Wolud/Should + Have + V.3  + O/C

S + Wolud/Should + Have + Been  + O/C

Time Signal:

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang sedang seharusnya telah selesai dilakukan pada masa lampau.
u/ menyatakan suatu pengandaian yang tidak mungkin terlaksana karena syaratnya sudah tidak terpenuhi.

16.   Past Future Continous Tense

S + Wolud/Should + Have + Been + V.ing  + O/C

Time Signal:  last week, yesterday, last month, last year, etc.

# u/ menyatakan aktivitas/peristiwa yang seharusnya telah sedang berlangsung selama jangka waktu tertentu pada masa lampau.
